Preparing for an Interview

Without a doubt you are under extreme pressure when you are being interviewed. It helps to be prepared for the types of questions you may be asked. One question that is probably the most commonly asked is:

What project or task that you have done would you consider to be the most significant accomplishment in your career?

That's sounds simple, but is it? There is a lot to think about when faced with this question. In order to talk about the project or task you will have to give some back ground information.

Firstly, you would probably want to give a detailed overview. Mention when it took place and what your role was, especially if it involved teamwork. Explain how long it took and the actual results. It might be a good idea to mention the challenges you faced and how you dealt with them. What did you like about the project? How did others influence you - make sure to give lots of examples. Looking back would you have changed anything if you had to do it again? Finally, what type of recognition did you receive for this project?

It's probably safe to say that this should take you about 15 to 20 minutes. Remember, don't get so carried away talking that your interviewer doesn't have a chance to ask you questions about your experience with the project or task.

It's important to be prepared. Think about and practice common interview questions. You can find a list of questions here: 50 Most Common Interview Questions
